"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it."
                            - Marian Wright Edelman

A licensed professional civil engineer serving as Senior Project Manager at Civil Engineering Consultants (CEC).

"I am responsible for leading a talented team of designers in preparing construction plans with a focus on transportation related projects. We design roads and the needed infrastructure needed to support them to meet traffic demands of our continuously growing City. As Engineers we have a primary obligation to protect the safety, health, property and welfare of the public. I'm also responsible for maintaining and establishing client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and securing future work."

Significant leadership role: Principal shareholder at CEC, an honor and privilege to be involved in the planning of the future of our company.

Schools attended: San Antonio College as a part-time student in the evenings while working full-time as a legal secretary. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University in Kingsville in 1999.

"Our family has lived in the Southwest District for many years, in fact my parents still live in the District and I'll always consider it home. I attended kindergarten at Southwest, Indian Creek Elementary, and graduated from Southwest High School in 1984, as did four of my siblings. Serving on the SWEF Board has been such a positive experience as we serve to make a difference in the lives of teachers and students' today - experiences that are teaching students the power of education, empowering them to plan and succeed in their own future and understanding the importance and value of service to community."

Professional societies: Member of American Public Works Association, Women in Transportation, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and Construction Management Association of America, and various others.

Major career accomplishment: Becoming a licensed professional engineer. This occurred a little late in life due to a few life detours/lessons. (While this was an important milestone in my career, the timing was really perfect as my son was old enough to understand my career goals which I feel ultimately served as a positive influence in his life choices.)
